People still in receipt of Disability Living Allowance (adults)
Personal Independence Payment (PIP) has replaced Disability Living Allowance (DLA) for all new claims.
Most DLA claimants have now been asked to claim PIP instead.
However, if you were aged 65 years of age or over on 8 April 2013 (20 June 2016 if you are living in Northern Ireland) then you will remain on DLA as long as your entitlement to this benefit remains; you will not be reassessed for PIP. Similarly, for this cohort of DLA claimants, it is possible to reclaim DLA within a year of a previous award ending as long as the claim is in relation to a relapse of the condition to which the previous entitlement was based. If more than a year has passed, then you would need to claim Attendance Allowance as someone over state pension age.
Anyone aged less than 65 years on 8 April 2013 (20 June 2016 if you are living in Northern Ireland) will be reassessed for PIP, despite being over state pension age, if your DLA award is due to be renewed or you report a relevant change of circumstances.
