Our Waiting Well Service
Supporting you while you wait
RNIB’s Waiting Well Service – part of the Eye Care Support Service – provides information, advice and support six days a week.
Run by our specialist Waiting Well team, the service manages referrals from optometrists, other health professionals and the public through our helpline and via online referrals.
Waiting for eye care appointments and treatments can be a stressful time. Our team is here to support you, your family, your colleagues and friends with high quality information, practical advice and emotional support at every stage of an eye care journey.
How we help
While you wait for your eye care appointments, our team provides:
- Support and guidance: We're here to help you navigate your eye care journey.
- Emotional support: Our team is here to listen and provide emotional support.
- Eye health advice: We can provide information and advice about a range of eye conditions and how to maintain good eye health.
- Practical advice: We can give support and advice on maintaining independence and managing daily activities; also employment and benefits support.
- Appointment support: Support to prepare for your eye care appointments and the types of questions you may want to ask at an appointment.
- Signposting: We can connect you to other services and organisations when additional support is required.
