Wirral Society of the Blind and Partially Sighted (WSBPS)

Wirral Society of the Blind and Partially Sighted is an independent charity supporting blind and partially sighted people in the Wirral area. WSBPS is a friendly, supportive service which offers a range of support for those affected by sight loss. Our welcoming, vibrant community and wonderful volunteers are at the heart of our services. We are open Monday to Friday from 9am to 4pm. Our services include: - A fully equipped Resource Centre with low vision and daily living aids available for demonstration and purchase. Available Mon-Fri 9am – 2pm, - An advocacy worker on site who also provides a supportive service assisting with benefit claims and complaints. Home visits are available on request. We can also offer support with Merseylink and Blue Badge applications, - An Eye Clinic Liaison Officer who is based at Arrowe Park Hospital Eye Department (9am – 4:30pm Monday – Friday) who can provide information on a range of services such as registration, driving, visual aids and transport services, - A Counselling Service – we offer one to one counselling for adults and young people with sight loss and their immediate families, - Emotional Support Groups – where people can come and share their experiences in a safe and supported environment. These are facilitated by our trained counsellors, - A Sight Loss Support Service – If you are struggling to come to terms with sight loss and would like to talk to someone who has experience of it and has overcome the difficulties, we can put you in touch with one of our visually impaired volunteers, - We host Social groups on a Tuesday and Thursday morning (10:30am – 12pm), as well as one on a Friday lunch time (11am – 1pm), - A wide range of volunteer and Session Tutor led sessions for you to attend, ranging from local history and IT, to arts and crafts.
