Wigan Council Sensory Team

Our Sensory team works with Adults and children who may have:

- A visual impairment: Sight impaired (partially sighted) or Severely sight impaired (blind).
- Deaf, or have acquired hearing loss.
- Dual sensory loss (hearing and visual impairment) or are Deaf blind.

They will conduct an assessment to identify your needs. They also can provide advice and information, advocacy, mobility and orientation training and independent living skills in the home.
They can provide a range of equipment and/or techniques to reduce the impact of a hearing or visual impairment, and teach you how to make best use of equipment to support independence at home.

They also signpost to other services and support so you can make the most out of your local community, accessing support and opportunities to improve your wellbeing.
