Walthew House

Walthew House is a charity that supports people in Stockport who have sight loss or hearing loss or both.

Services:
- help desk open Monday to Thursday, 9:30AM to 4PM, providing information and advice
- range of classes and activities including craft, chair based exercise and social groups, lunch club, steelband, handbells, computers
- braille tuition
- braille and audio transcription
- social groups for deaf people on Thursdays from 10am and Fridays from 7.30pm
- youth group (under 18s) Fridays 6.00pm - 7.30pm
- Stockport Talking Newspaper
- regular newsletter
- agent for the British Wireless for the Blind Fund
- computer training: volunteers do one-on-one training with Jaws and Supernova software for people in Stockport Borough (cost is £1.50 for each hourly session)
- resource centre
- emotional support and a professional counselling service is available to people with sight loss
