Wakefield District Sight Aid
Local charity providing support to all adult visually impaired people, their families, carers and sight care professionals across the Wakefield district. Helps those affected by sight impairment to improve their confidence and independence through :
- Advice and support (by phone or at the office)
- Home visits to assess for, provide, and advise on the use of certain safety equipment
- Regular Equipment Demonstration and Advice events
- Referrals for Talking Newspapers and Talking Books
- Administration of British Wireless for the Blind Fund equipment
- Community outreach work to reduce social isolation (e.g. day trips, coffee mornings)
- Telephone befriending services
- Quarterly newsletter in a variety of formats
- Emotional support (partnership with Gasped)
- Support with technology
- Younger members social group
