VIEWS

An inspirational self-help group for visually impaired people of working age in the North East of England. Aiming to promote inclusion of their members into their local communities and empower them to be more independent and self-confident. VIEWS is one of only a few groups in the North East whose activities take place outside of work/college time.

Meetings are held bi-monthly at MEA House in central Newcastle where they have a range of guest speakers and various issues and barriers facing visually impaired people are discussed and solutions to overcome them shared. Their main ethos is to help each other to live as independently as possible while having lots of fun.

They also organise a range of social and recreational activities for 80 plus members. These include activity weekends, city breaks, theatre shows and pub quizzes to name a few. The more sighted members of the group enable less sighted members to be included in all activities.
