The Royal Blind School

Provides education and care to blind and partially sighted students to enable them to be successful learners, responsible citizens, confident individuals and effective contributors to society.

Their multi-disciplinary team of professionals includes teachers; care and mobility staff; nurses; physiotherapists; speech, language and occupational therapists.

Visually impaired pupils aged 3-19 years from Scotland, the North of England and further afield attend the school on a residential or day basis as appropriate. Pupils have individual programmes which may be academic or social and vocational.

There are links with local schools and the school welcomes, and makes suitable arrangements in support of pupils with additional learning difficulties.

Leisure activities include swimming, athletics, drama, chess, Duke of Edinburgh Scheme, Scouts and Guides, football and golf.
