Royal Victoria Infirmary (ECLO Service)

The Ophthalmology Department helps patients with eye problems from all across the North East of England and includes an Eye Casualty service for patients with emergency eye problems. Two Eye Clinic Liaison Officers (ECLOs) are on hand to offer support to patients five days a week with any level of sight loss or diagnosis. They also run clinics at Cramlington Manor Walks Clinic and take referrals from all other Ophthalmology clinics linked to the Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This service is available to patients, relatives and carers to support with the impact of eye conditions and sight loss on daily living and wellbeing.
