Portsmouth Library Service

Based at the Portsmouth Central Library, we offer a range of services for the visually impaired, both long-term and newly diagnosed.

These include large print and audio books ; special library membership category for adults with disabilities; subscription to Clearvision Books and Talking Newspapers; Access2Books (72 point font picture books with Braille); public access computers with assistive software; training for those wishing to use assistive software; two weekly support groups one based in Central Library and one in Southsea Library; MP3 reading group; sensory shop; equipment for loan or purchase; training to use everyday living aids; Braille translation and instruction; quarterly newsletter; magnifiers; telephone advice line and emotional support for friends and family, as well as individuals who are visually impaired.

We also offer the opportunity for those with visual impairments to participate in local projects and activities.
