Middlesbrough Childrens Services for the Visually Impaired

Funded by Hartlepool, Stockton, Middlesbrough and Redcar & Cleveland to across the Teesside area.

Supporting children and young people with a visual impairment and their families from birth to 25. They have teachers with specialist training to support children with access to their education, social and emotional skills and self advocacy. They also work with all the adults who support the child to help them understand the impacts of the visual impairment both in school and in their daily life at home.

They run a fortnightly parent and toddler group offering support and a range of fun, learning activities for the youngsters and a social group for KS2 and KS3 where they arrange fun activities across the area allowing youngsters opportunities to meet and talk with others who are also visually impaired.

They also provide habilitation and mobility training to encourage independent living skills in preparation for being ready for employment.
