Manchester College

Manchester College is a mainstream college, with an inclusive Local Offer for HN/SEND learners, offering specific provision for blind or partially sighted learners.

They have a team of SEND Support Practitioners (SSPs) able to support learners reliant on magnification and screen reading software. The college employs a range of assistive technologies including ZOOMTEXT, JAWS, NVDA, Windows Magnification and SUPERNOVA. SSPs are supported by a team of Assistive Technologists who adapt teaching to individual need. They also operate a Resource Modification Unit (RMU) to craft bespoke solutions, such as tactile diagrams, Braille, and other IT based solutions such as use of CD and MP3 in order to support staff in making learning as accessible as possible to learners.

Committed to inclusion the college serves the needs of around 300 High Needs learners each year in seeks continuously to strive to reach excellence in its provision of a Quality First Teach approach to inclusive learning.
