London Borough of Bromley Council Vision Team

The Bromley Vision Team works with babies, children, young people and their families from the time that a visual impairment is diagnosed or a visual difficulty is noticed. Referrals can be made by hospitals, paediatricians, by the parent or close relative, the health visitor, or a pre-school or school setting.

The Vision Team works with babies and the under 5s to maximise visual development and to help them reach their developmental milestones. This can be by home visits or in our well equipped sensory room.

Once the child is at pre-school or school, the service provides training and makes regular visits to settings. This enables pupils with a visual impairment to have the best possible access to the curriculum and the life of their setting whilst meeting needs which are specific to their sensory impairment.
