Kingston upon Thames Association for the Blind
The Association was established to promote the welfare of blind and partially sighted residents in the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames.
The Association acts as the coordinating body for social clubs within the Borough such as:
- Kingston Macular Disease Support Group
- Eye Contact Group
- New Malden Blind Club
- Surbiton Club for the Blind
- Social Eyes Blind Club.
The Association is able to make grants available to visually impaired people who live in the borough for a wide variety of purposes, ranging from the purchase of special equipment to help with the cost of holidays
They also offer a weekly talking newspaper and an Eye Buddy Scheme that matches volunteers with blind and partially sighted people to help them with everyday tasks such as reading letters, making tea and some short trips.
