Guernsey Blind Association (GBA)
The Guernsey Blind Association is a local charity providing support for visually impaired people living in the Bailiwick of Guernsey. The charity's aim is to enable VI people to maintain independent living skills at home and in the workplace.
GBA offers the following resources, information and activities:
- a resource centre selling up-to-date equipment
- a weekly Social meeting held on Thursdays with activities such as bingo, knitting, handcrafts, music and catching up with friends
- a weekly audio news tape
- a 'listening for pleasure' audio library including the loan of cassette players
- Financial assistance towards the cost of eye examinations and new glasses
- home visits
- promoting educational and social activities
- providing emotional and practical support to local visually impaired people
