Dumfries and Galloway Council Sensory Support Service

The Sensory Support Team offer assessments to adults and children with visual and/or hearing impairment; They provide advice and guidance on a wide range of equipment and assistive technology aimed at increasing the independence and safety of their service users; they offer training in orientation and mobility, daily living, low vision, lighting and communication. Awareness raising training; including guidance on best communication methods. They also administer the register for Sight Impaired/Severely sight impaired adults in the region.
