Coleg y Cymoedd

The college runs a course suitable for people with varying degrees of sight loss.

Those interested in attending the college are invited for an informal chat to discuss any needs, and to gain an understanding of the different settings that may be required on the computer relevant to a particular eye condition.

The course caters for people of different abilities, from absolute beginners to those with more knowledge or past experience. The specialist software available (Jaws or Supernova) has speech and/or magnification.

They offer courses including learning to touch type, word processing, using the Internet or e-mail.

On completion of the course, students will gain units linked to the Agored Cymru qualifications board. Assessment is by means of portfolio, compiled each lesson.

There are no examinations.

The course runs from September to the end of June. However, in some cases it may be possible to join after this date.
