Chichester Area Talking News

Radio and TV keep visually impaired people up-to-date with national news but not local news like planning applications, parish and district council meetings, local events, school events, local sports results and nature notes.

Chichester Area Talking News (CATN) offers news taken from local newspapers to around 400 visually impaired listeners.

A memory stick audio recording is sent by post every 2 weeks. CATN will also loan a memory stick player, and a volunteer will ensure that the listener knows how the player works and will keep in contact if there are problems. The service is completely free of charge.

CATN began in 1975, and operates from a studio at St Richard’s Hospital. As well as fortnightly recordings there is a quarterly audio magazine of in-depth articles of local interest.

If you know a friend or a relative who has difficulty reading and would like our recordings, please contact us on 01243 775050 or visit our website www.catn.org.uk.
