Blind and Sight Impaired Society (BASIS)

The Blind and Sight Impaired Society (BASIS) was set up to assist people with sight loss to live independently whilst maintaining a good quality of life. This includes people with an acquired sight impairment, be it temporary or long term and those who have experienced a lifetime of sight loss. We also aim to raise the profile of visual impairment in the wider community.

- Monthly Quiz
- Canvey Social group
- Billericay Keep fit

A resource centre and home visiting scheme for those who can't visit the centre is available.
Working in partnership with Essex Vision.

They have an ECLO, Sarah- Jane Piper who offers support via outreach in the community in the areas of the Basildon Borough, Thurrock and Castlepoint. She is employed by and based at BASIS but liaises with patients from Orsett eye clinic.
