Blackfen School for Girls

Bexley's secondary resource provision for girls with visual impairment, aged 11-18, including those registered blind. Based in building at the front of Bexley's highest-performing non-selective school.

They have experience of supporting students, both large print users and braillists, through GCSE and A-Level and are able to transcribe and emboss braille documents.

Students with additional needs may be taught in the 'Jigsaw class', led by experienced SEN teachers, equipped with CCTV, low vision aids and a Soundfield system, where all the core subjects are taught in a small group.

Students continue to access practical and performing arts subjects in the school mainstream, with Teaching Assistant support.
