Would you like to connect to other braille learners and users? Or maybe just reach out to a braille community near you? These are some of the best ways that you can do that:

Braillists Foundation

This grass-roots community group offers training, support and connection to all braille users.

UKAAF (UK Association for Accessible Formats)

THE UKAAF are the industry association that sets standards and promotes best practise for accessible documents. Probably for slightly more advanced braille users, by joining up you get involved in all sorts of fascinating braille discussions!

Living Braille run by the EBU (European Blind Union)

The Living Braille website, that is run by the EBU is a fantastic platform for information, exchange and discussion all about braille.

Facebook Groups

There are lots of Facebook groups that are centred around braille, just type “braille” into the search bar in the Facebook website or App and select a group that is right for you.

Get in touch with the RNIB or your local sight loss organisation

Call the RNIB helpline 0303 123 9999 or email us on [email protected], or search on our Sightline Directory for your local sight loss organisation and enquire with them about any local braille groups.

Ask your local library

There are lots of local libraries around the UK that host braille groups and if they don’t, they can get in touch with the local authority sensory team to try and find out where your closest one is.
