Blind and partially sighted people will put questions to General Election candidates
Blind and partially sighted people will get a chance to put questions to Scottish General Election candidates at hustings organised by sight loss charity RNIB Scotland this evening (Thursday, November 28th).
The event is being held in the University of Strathclyde's Technology and Innovation Centre in Glasgow.
Candidates will each be invited to speak for three minutes before the session is thrown open to questions from the audience. The hustings will be chaired by RNIB Scotland director James Adams.
"There are many pertinent issues that blind and partially sighted people have told us are particular priorities for them in this election, including accessibility, employment and, not least, how easy it actually is to cast your vote if you have sight loss," said Mr Adams.
"In an election in which every vote would appear to be vital, it makes sense for candidates and parties to think about what it is they offer to the 170,000 people in Scotland living with significant sight loss.
Confirmed candidates include Tony Curtis (Scottish Conservative, Glasgow North), Pam Duncan-Glancy (Scottish Labour, Glasgow North), Carol Monaghan (SNP, Glasgow North West), Nicholas Moohan (Scottish Liberal Democrats, Glasgow North East) and Carolyn Scrimgeour (Scottish Greens, East Dunbartonshire).
