An update from our CEO

Matt Stringer, RNIB CEO, said:

“After careful consideration, our Board of Trustees has decided that RNIB will transfer its regulated older people’s care homes and its schools and college to new specialist providers. We are in the process of finding the best possible providers and, where possible, are aiming to transfer these services in the next 12 months.

“This hasn’t been an easy decision to make, but we are confident that it’s the right one. We are making changes in our organisation to help us support many more people with sight loss.

“We believe that we should focus on our services that reach the greatest number of people. We have therefore had to make some difficult decisions about our priorities and the services we offer.

“We are proud of the excellent work these services have delivered over the decades, but now is the right time for us to hand over to providers that are specialists in these fields. 

“Our priority now is to find new providers and then work closely with them to make sure the transition is as smooth as possible for staff and customers, and that the legacy of these fantastic services can continue. We want to make sure we get this right and so we will not be rushing the process, aiming to have transferred these services within the next 12 months.”
