Welsh synthetic voices

We developed these voices with text-to-speech software company IVONA, thanks to funding from the Welsh Government.

These voices will make a real difference to blind and partially sighted Welsh speakers and learners. Because of the previous lack of a Welsh language "voice" of the same standard, people who rely on screen reading software to use computers haven't been able to effectively read websites, exchange emails or read or write documents in the Welsh language.

The voices are available free to both individuals and non-commercial organisations, and we expect a significant level of interest from schools and colleges wanting to access the voices to support their learners.

These voices have been designed to work with Windows systems only and are available in Welsh language and English language - Welsh accent versions.
