RNIB Bookshare
RNIB Bookshare opens up the world of reading in education for blind and partially sighted learners and learners with print-related disabilities. We offer a range of accessible textbooks and educational materials to support the personal needs of learners.
Access RNIB Bookshare
RNIB Bookshare supports those who are unable to access print by providing a vast collection of accessible textbooks and materials to support the UK curriculum from early years to adult education.
Our free service, which can be accessed by teachers, students, and parents, has a range of accessible formats so books can be read electronically or adapted to suit personal reading needs, giving students the same educational opportunities as their peers. Books for leisure reading are also available.
Through organisational accounts, individual learners can also be allocated their own member account, so they may independently search, download and request the books they need.
RNIB Bookshare partners with over 1,100 publishers; including well-known names such as Taylor & Francis, Springer Nature, Harper Collins and Penguin Random House. Many of these publishers have a direct feed meaning they can upload new and existing backlist materials directly onto the system - meaning students are able to access what they need without any delay.
You can join and use RNIB Bookshare for free if you're:
- an early years centre
- a school, college or university
- a sensory support team
- an adult learning centre.
There is a small charge for organisations based overseas.
If there is a delay in joining through your educational institution, RNIB Bookshare can set up membership directly for you or your child, on a temporary basis. Contact the team at [email protected] and send the following information along with proof of disability:
