Counselling support groups
Our Sight Loss Counselling Team runs support groups for people affected by sight loss.
Our Seeing it Through groups provide a supportive setting in which you'll be able to:
- talk about the way you feel
- gain support from people who understand what you're going through
- explore and learn ways of dealing with difficult feelings.
How do the groups work?
Participants are matched with other people who are going through similar experiences. There'll be a maximum of five people participating and each session will last about an hour.
The groups run for eight weekly meetings over the phone. An RNIB counsellor will be your group facilitator and will help you to share and explore your experiences in a safe way.
Every week our facilitator will get in touch with each participant over the phone. Once everybody is contacted the meeting will begin. Phone numbers will be confidential to the Sight Loss Counselling Team and no one else will have access to it.
How to register your interest
If you would like to book a place on to one of these groups, please fill in our groups booking form. Alternatively, you can call our Helpline on 0303 123 9999.
We will contact you within five working days to book an initial intake assessment with a counsellor. This initial session will offer the opportunity to explore if this type of work would be helpful to you, as well as a chance to ask any questions you might have.
