If you are a parent or carer who has recently found out your child has been diagnosed with a vision impairment, our Living Well with Sight Loss Parent Pathways course is here to support you.
This free online course will be run by RNIB’s Family Support Officers and will provide information on a range of topics. It’s designed to give you space to ask questions and discuss any concerns you might have about raising a child who is blind or partially sighted. You'll also have the opportunity to ask questions and learn from the experiences of other parents.
Run as small group sessions, you’ll learn about:
- early support around your child’s diagnosis,
- education,
- how to access specialist support,
- welfare and benefits,
- the role of play and social development.
Parents will be able to meet and share experiences in a safe and supportive environment. After the course, you'll be offered the opportunity for a one to one discussion with your local RNIB Family Support Officer to discuss your situation and any additional support you might need.
An accompanying Parent Pack workbook will be provided to record any useful information from the course.
