To celebrate braille’s two hundredth anniversary, we’re celebrating Braille 200 (#Braille200 on social media) from September 2024 until August 2025 and inviting everyone to join us in marking this huge milestone for the blind and partially sighted community.

What is Braille?

Braille is a great way for blind people to read and write, the characters are designed to be read by fingers rather than eyes.

What is Braille 200?

Braille and Beyond Library Tour

From September 2024, the UK will embark on a journey of celebration and discovery with the launch of the Braille and Beyond Tour across the UK. This year-long initiative invites you to join braille experts and allies in honouring the 200th anniversary of the braille code's invention and exploring its profound impact in the lives of blind and partially sighted people.
