Good Design
There are two million people with sight problems in the UK. Good design can make websites, information, products, services and buildings accessible to them.
An inclusive approach to design is both practical and achievable. Accessibility does not only affect people with disabilities. It has enormous benefits and rewards for everyone.
Getting started
The new See it Right book is a good start. The book includes advice on producing accessible print information, details of producing audio and braille information, and guidelines on using common software packages accessibly.
Websites
Our Web Access Centre provides web designers and managers with the tools and resources needed to plan, build and test accessible websites. We also offer paid for web accessibility consultancy services including website audits, advice, presentations and seminars. Our directory of accessible websites lists the sites that have passed our audit within the past year.
Product design
Good design is key to increasing your product sales. From thermos flasks to telephones, RNIB works with you to make your products accessible to people with sight problems. Find out from our product design team if your product meets design guidelines for accessibility.
Consultancy
We offer consultancy to help businesses improve the accessibility of information, products, services and the built environment for people with sight problems.
Publications
We publish a range of publications in print and other formats to provide information on accessibility. All are available from our online shop. Our latest publication is The Accessible Office, a new guide to creating an inclusive workplace.
Research
For research on accessible information our Research Library provides print and electronic books, articles, reports and links to valuable online resources.
