RNIB Bristol: an update

Stephen Weymouth, RNIB Network Manager for the South West, said:

“The RNIB Bristol office is moving to a new location in Bristol during week commencing 27 May. We will be moving to Unit 2.3, Streamline, 436-441 Paintworks, Arnos Vale, Bristol BS4 3AR. Our telephone numbers remain unchanged.

“The new building is owned by the Ethical Property Company and was chosen as the most accessible premises from our list of options. The location has good public transport links.

“The new location includes meeting rooms for community groups to use but does not include activity rooms. However, we have worked with Windmill Hill City Farm in Bedminster, close to the old office, to ensure local activity groups have a suitable venue they can still use. We remain committed to working collaboratively with other local and national organisations.

“Like all charities, RNIB has a limited budget and we have to make sure every penny we spend goes as far as possible. This new location is cost effective and less than half the cost of the alternative sites considered.

“Our motivation for the move is not only financial. It is estimated that there are over 11,000 people with sight loss in the Bristol area who could benefit from the support and connections that RNIB offers. We have to think of new and creative ways to reach more people, so we can provide the information, advice and support they need to live the life they want to lead.”

About RNIB

We are the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB).

Every six minutes, someone in the UK begins to lose their sight. RNIB is taking a stand against exclusion, inequality and isolation to create a world without barriers where people with sight loss can lead full lives. A different world where society values blind and partially sighted people not for the disabilities they’ve overcome, but for the people they are.

RNIB. See differently.
