Allied Health Professions Support Service

The Allied Health Professions Support Service (AHPSS) is a UK wide service based at the University of East London.

The AHPSS is a free service funded by the department of health. Our dedicated team of professionals offer information, advice and practical help for disabled students studying for GCSE, 'A' Level, Access to HE or other relevant qualifying programmes for entry into the following Allied Health Professions:

  • Dietetics
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Podiatry
  • Physiotherapy
  • Speech and Language Therapy

AHPSS works with students studying on BSc and MSc degree programmes leading to a qualification in one of the above professions and also provides services to disabled people currently working in these professions.

AHPSS can provide information and advice on:

  • Careers in the following Allied Health Professions: Dietetics, Occupational Therapy, Podiatry, Physiotherapy and Speech and Language Therapy
  • Education and employment including preparation and job seeking skills training
  • Disabled Students' Allowance (DSA) and the Access to Work (AtW) scheme
  • How to choose and use assistive equipment and software
  • How to study effectively
  • Assessment of technical needs
  • How to use technical and other equipment

We also have an international remit and have provided a variety of support to young people from all over the world.
