BlackBerry Screen Reader has arrived!

Research In Motion (RIM), the makers of BlackBerry smartphones have released a free BlackBerry Screen Reader making BlackBerry handsets a great alternative to touch screen phones for blind and partially sighted people.

The BlackBerry Screen Reader software is compatible with BlackBerry Curve models 9350, 9360 and 9370. The makers are also looking to make the software work on up and coming models like the BlackBerry Curve 9320.

The BlackBerry Screen Reader has many features that can be adjusted to suit you, including:

  • independent volume control for speech output
  • support to work with core applications
  • short cut commands
  • adding additional secure options for displaying and entering passwords
  • in-call settings for text to speech output
  • ability to customise audio and output controls

You'll find BlackBerry Curve 9360 and 9320 smartphones in most high street mobile phone stores.

If you already have a BlackBerry Curve 9350, 9360 or 9370 you can download the BlackBerry Screen Reader software free from the BlackBerry website.
