World record breaking Read for RNIB Day

Waterstones, one of the high street's leading book stores, helped RNIB to launch its first ever Read for RNIB Day event in October 2011.

To help launch the flagship event RNIB and Waterstones joined forces in an attempt to break the Guinness Book of World Records for the most people in a reading relay.

Book lovers of all ages came together in the Waterstones in London's Piccadilly and helped smash the record with 317 people successfully reading aloud one sentence at a time from "The Double Eagle Has Landed", an exclusive story by Anthony Horowitz.

"Working with RNIB to help launch their Read for RNIB day was both enjoyable and rewarding - it is a great cause to be identified with. They are a great team to work with, and we were pleased to be able to help both with the Guinness World Record breaking event at our flagship Piccadilly shop, and by distributing a free book to thousands of readers via our UK-wide estate."
