BT plc has been generously supporting the RNIB Group for several years now. The most recent sponsorship involved a research investigation into the barriers that prevent older, blind and partially sighted people from getting online and reaping the same benefits as the rest of society. The study focused on the barriers and enablers of getting online, identifying the types of activities in which people would like to engage, and on providing recommendations that would benefit blind and partially sighted people.
82 per cent of the survey respondents said that their eyesight was a reason they are not using the internet and a full report and its recommendations can be seen on our website.
"Today's technology enables us to communicate and access information in ever more powerful ways. This opens up all kinds of exciting opportunities for enriching our lives. BT has been helping people get online since 2002.
We are delighted to support RNIB and their research into barriers that may be preventing blind and partially sighted people for getting online and how these might be broken down. We want everyone to be able to benefit from today's communications technology."
