Our key priorities
Sight loss can strike any of us at any time. One person in 35 in the UK has a serious sight problem - that is nearly two million people. In fact, sight loss is one of the most common causes of disability in the UK. We offer information, support and advice to adults and children living with sight loss and their families. Our challenges
For all that RNIB has achieved over the last century, there is much more that needs to be done. RNIB cannot possibly meet all of the hopes and desires of blind and partially sighted people and it is therefore imperative that we focus our activities on the issues that people have told us are the most important. We will work with others in the voluntary, public and private sectors to influence their provision in order to end the isolation of sight loss.
Despite the fact that we know we cannot deliver everything we are ambitious for the future. We are clear that the UK is currently failing its citizens with eye-care and sight loss services that are unfit to meet current and future needs.
Our ambition
Our ambition is to make the UK a better place for blind and partially sighted people and a place where no one needlessly loses their sight. We will campaign for better public awareness of the causes of sight loss and for access to sight saving treatments, whilst providing services to ensure that blind and partially sighted people are supported to live independent lives.
In our increasingly global society, we need to ensure the voice of blind and partially sighted people and the sight loss cause is heard wherever key decisions are made. Your help is vital in ensuring that we continue to meet the needs of more than two million people in the UK living with sight loss.
