Accessible Media and Transcription (NI)

What we do

The highly experienced RNIB NI Accessible Media team can convert all types of print information into accessible formats such as audio CD, DAISY CD, mp3, braille, large print or tactile diagrams.

We help individuals, charities, education providers, utilities, services, businesses, councils and government departments to meet their requirements under equality legislation in Northern Ireland.

Blind or partially sighted people have the right to be able to quickly and easily access any print information in their preferred accessible format.

All of our formats are professionally produced and proof checked to ISO 9001:2008 standards by RNIB qualified braille, text and audio editors.

We can help you to distribute information directly to blind and partially sighted people through our channels proactively, for example, public information leaflet mail outs, public consultations or campaign literature.

Our fast, economically priced service is designed to enable every person who is blind or partially sighted to continue to make informed decisions, retain their independence and privacy, whilst participating fully in society.

Our work is accompanied by the reassurance and reputation that comes with being part of the leading UK wide charity supporting people with sight loss.

Personal Transcription Service

If you are blind or partially sighted, you can buy transcription at a subsidised cost. Our Personal Transcription Service helps you translate everyday printed material into audio, braille, large print or EText.

Check out the Membership pages of our website to find out how you can get an allowance of free transcription when you sign up as a member of RNIB.

RNIB Talking Book Service

If you struggle to read print, we can help you discover a new way of reading with our Talking Book service.

Below is a link to a document listing current DAISY book titles with local content or authors produced by the NI Accessible Media team.

Volunteer with us

We operate two fully equipped, broadcast quality, recording studios and trained studio readers offer a wide range of warm local accents.

We have a number of volunteer roles available in Belfast. The more help we have, the more accessible formats we can produce!
