For new build and redevelopment schemes we work with developers, owners, architects and design teams to ensure the principles of Inclusive Design are applied at all stages of a project.
Considering access at a sufficiently early stage of a project can often avoid inferior retro-fit solutions having to be applied later on. This frequently proves to be more cost-effective in the long run. We aim to work closely with design teams providing both technical advice and training as appropriate.
We offer a range of appraisal types, based on the level of detail required and budget of the client.
Single design appraisal
A stand-alone appraisal of current plans and specifications to identify potential disability access issues. This is followed up by a report containing legislative background, supporting information, comments and corresponding recommendations for addressing all issues. We also include technical fact sheets to provide supporting information.
Design appraisal and advice
An appraisal of current plans, specifications and supporting documents, followed up by a report as for the single design appraisal. This is supplemented by the provision of design advice by phone and email and attendance at one architects meeting to discuss the report and to review any subsequent changes.
Full design appraisal and advice service
On board from an early design stage this option includes appraisals of plans at each RIBA stage, provision of design advice when required, attendance at architect meetings and input into supporting documents such as access statements.
