Support from school to employment
For the under-fives, we find accessible toys, books and games to support the development of social skills.
At primary and secondary school level, we ensure children with sight loss can access the curriculum, read their textbooks, and be educated by teachers who have the information they need to teach children with a sight problem effectively. RNIB supports children through their school journey and beyond.
Unemployment for blind and partially sighted people in the UK is fifteen times higher than for the general population. At RNIB we challenge the 92 per cent of UK employers who believe that it would be impossible or difficult to employ someone with sight loss. Funding our work helps to provide the support, training and encouragement people living with sight loss need to enter and stay in the workplace.
This is just some of the work we do. RNIB aims to end the isolation of sight loss. Together we can work towards a world in which sight loss need not be an obstacle to ambition and achievement.
